ThumbTack Microphones for iPods Look Sharp

ThumbTack iPod is tiny microphone and it’s also cute. I like the styling of it. The thumbtack shape and bright colors is distinctive and the design should allow you to easily insert and remove the mic from your iPod.
It fits in pretty unobtrusively, ready for you to record your whiny voice right into your iPod.

Spaulding iHoop Basketball Hoop has an iPod Dock and Speakers

Rock n’ Roll as you shake and bake and dish and swish with the new Spaulding iHoop (I think I channeled a little Walt Clyde Frazier there). The iHoop is a standard adjustable tempered glass basketball hoop with one major rocking difference- built into the base is an iPod dock and 3 speakers (a pair of 3? speakers and a 5? subwoofer) pumping out a total of 30 watts of sound.
The iPod dock is hidden behind a panel with five quick access buttons and is protected from your air balls and angry kicks when you don’t get the call you want. The speakers and enclosure are weather protected as well.

USB UFO Rechargeable Speaker

Here’s a cute little USB Rechargeable Speaker shaped like a UFO. Although it does sort of look like a hat too, once the top “hatch” portion is opened to reveal the speaker, it does look more like something Mulder and Scully would be looking for (in a tiny plastic 1950’s style format of course):

It has a blue LED power indicator for a cool effect. This is not as cool as the UFO Lamp but still a pretty cool little UFO gadget.

TV Stand with Built in Speakers

This slick looking TV stand from Onei Solutions puts 6 speakers right into the stand itself to minimize visual clutter and maximize sound volume. With a modern appearance featuring a piano black finish and chrome legs, this sleek stand has six 15 watt speakers and a pair of HDMI inputs. If you’re in the UK you can pick it up for around $500, which is really not too bad a deal considering the cost of TV stands these days.

Boynq Sabre iPod Dock

The Boynq Sabre iPod Dock is probably the only iPod Dock in the world with a Q at the end of it’s name and thus might be the highest scoring Scrabble name in the iPod accessory industry. It also sort of looks like a roll of film being unspooled. I wonder how the sound is since the speakers are not pointed straight but instead off to the sides. Here’s the specs:

icePod is the Sweetest iPod Yet

The icePod is the sweetest iPod ever because it’s made of ice cream! From Norwegian ice creamery Henning Olsen, comes this delicious looking ice cream bar in the shape of an iPod (errr unofficial product, make that “shape of an MP3 player”). Each box comes with a free Norwegian song download. Unlike the real iPod, it’s ok if your icePod freezes up- it’s recommended. It should be in stores (in Norway) this month, barring any cease and defrost orders from Apple.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots Bundle (MGS4)

The hype surrounding Metal Gear Solid 4 is so thick you could cut it with a knife. And although we found the MGS4 Headset to disappoint when we reviewed it, we know that the game itself is going to be a perfect 10. One lucky individual who went into his local Wal-mart for socks managed to score a MGS4 bundle several days early.

Playstation3 Darklite Bluetooth Headset For PS3

While looking for a Blue tooth headset that doesn’t look like all the others on the market, we stumbled upon the EX-01 made by Messiah Entertainment that offers 4-6 hours of continuous talk time and charges via USB. We’re taking bets that this headset will show up in a low-budget science fiction “made-for-TV-movie” within months after it is released in May.

PSP Dock Cradle

We love our red PSP 2000 alot. We love the enhanced graphics, the Skype capability, and especially the TV output feature. We don’t love the lack of remote and docking station though, especially when using the TV out functions of the PSP. Maybe it’s because we use the PSP Camera to shoot photos & movies that we then like to display for our friends and family on their TV, but it’s always been very inconvenient not having some sort of docking station or remote control. Sony’s finally wised up to this (seriously guys, what took so long?) and released this nifty docking cradle with remote that will both charge your and output your PSP 2000 to your TV provided you have the right cables.

Where Can I Buy Or Get The PSP Camera?

Sometimes the marketing minds at Sony confound the heck out of us. Ever since the original mention of the PSP Camera at E3 in 2004 it has been one of the most desired PSP accessories that we in the US “can’t” have. Why Sony, why won’t you release it here in the states? Heck, we even setup the World’s First PSP Camera Webcam back when the PSP-2000 introduced video out capability. Every time we go out with our red God of War PSP 2000 with the camera attached we literally get stopped and asked this question: “Where can I buy the PSP camera?”

We purchased our original “Chotto Shot” (the Japanese name for the PSP Camera) from Play-Asia a year or so ago. While we simply cannot fathom the reason why Sony won’t release it here themselves, luckily you can still purchase it from Play-Asia using either of the links below. The PSP camera is region-free and every PSP made to date from the PSP-1000 to the PSP-3000 have the software already loaded to use the camera to take photos and videos.

Red PSP 2000 – God of War Entertainment Pack Review

What’s In The Box

* Blood Red PSP-2000 Handheld Console
* “God of War – Chains of Olympus” Game on UMD
* “Superbad” Movie on UMD
* “Syphon Filter: Combat OPS” Voucher
* AC Adaptor
* Battery Pack

Conclusion
If you don’t already have a PSP, this is the bundle to get. If you already have a PSP Fat or Slim and you’re looking to trade them in for something cool, this is also the bundle to get. We traded in one of our old PSP-1000’s and our silver PSP-2000 for this awesome bundle, and we’re glad we did.

Red PSP 2000 – God of War Entertainment Pack

Perhaps it was the Special Edition Halo 360 that sold so well, or maybe it’s the fact that Nintendo has often joked in interviews that their numbers show consumers like to own multiple colors of their handheld consoles. Either way Sony has finally wised up and has started offering special edition PSP’s stateside. (We’re purposely forgetting, but not forgiving Sony for the particularly ugly awful Darth Vader Battlefront White PSP.)

The God of War PSP is a PSP-2000 model, which means it’s slimmer and lighter and Skype capabable. The bundle also comes with “God of War: Chains of Olympus” and a copy of Superbad on USD, along with battery pack, AC adapter and no USB cable. (That’s right, Sony thinks you’ve probably got a dozen USB cables lying around the office, and they are probably right.) They did throw in a PSN Game Voucher for “Syphon Filter: Combat Ops” which we suppose makes up for it.

The “PSP God of War Entertainment Pack – Red” starts shippiong on June 3rd. And yes dammit, we want one, even though we already have three PSP’s lying about our office. Curse you Sony! Gratuitous open box shot after the jump.

The Infrared Flashlight Video Recorder

Hammacher and Schlemmer is continuing on with their quest of creating gadgets that you wish you knew why you needed. This gadget might actually be one that you attempt to justify paying the hefty price tag for, just purely because it’s a cool gadget. Despite that I haven’t the faintest idea why it’s necessary. This flashlight claims to be the absolute and only Infrared Flashlight Video Recorder. It might very well be, I know I’ve never seen another of its kind, but then I can’t manage to see everything there is to see on the internet. As much as I wish I could and still attempt to anyway. The flashlight features a 3-watt cool white LED light as the main light and then 17 infrared LEDs that surround that main light. With those extra LEDs it can illuminate up to 13′ for all that late night recording. The flashlight will support up to a 2GB mini-SD card and also has 128MB of built-in memory. The video and snapshots are captured at 640 x 480 resolution at 30 fps. If you want to use the built-in memory, you’ll be able to store 15 seconds of video and 500 quick snapshots. It also features a microphone (for sound) and an LCD screen (to show you details such as battery life). It takes 3 C batteries to keep the light running for 3 hours. You can pick it up for $399.95.

The new introduce you to the electronic-cigarette. These battery-powered gizmos sound like a ridiculous party gag, and as a matter of fact they are. But they also deliver users a serious portion of vaporized nicotine that is supposed to sate even the most demanding of smokers. As Der Spiegel reports—with a healthy puff of irony and caution—e-cigarettes could be “Smoking 2.0.”

In particular, these gadgets sidestep the 4,000-plus chemicals present in standard cigarette smoke that plume into one’s lungs from the burning of tobacco and tar. This allows e-cigarette smokers to avoid the 50 or so cancer-causing components of normal cigarettes. Not surprisingly, e-cigarette companies make grandiose statements about the health benefits of their wares.E-cigarettes work like this: Nicotine is dissolved in propylene glycol, and the combination is stored in a cartridge that is designed to look like a traditional orange cigarette filter. The nicotine cartridge screws onto the main body of the e-cigarette, which contains a rechargeable battery that powers an electrical circuit. When the smoker inhales, a sensor in the circuit is activated. This causes a red-light-emitting diode at the tip to turn on. More importantly, the nicotine and propylene glycol are heated up so that they vaporize and get sucked into the smoker’s lungs.

the smart pen and devices

by Matthew Newill on May 1, 2007

HP Laptop
Have you ever wondered what gadgets will be like in 5 years time? HP recently did and came up with a number of drawings and ideas as to what we might be using in 2012. The first is this HP laptop which can be seen above. It has virtual keys, is razor thin and is featherweight. Hopefully virtual keyboards will be easier to use in 5 years time as currently they suck.

Continue reading on for more cool gadgets from 2012.

Media Mat
Next in line is the Media Mat which is a roll up screen. Flexible screens are becoming available recently but tend to be in grey scale and do not have a fast refresh rate. The screen above is full colour and should be able to roll right up to be stored away when not in use.

Watch
Communication is key with current times. Devices need to be able to connect together to share information so that appointments are not missed and family are a button press away. This watch is what ties all these devices together. It is a wireless hub which communicates with the laptop, roll up screen and the other gadgets and allows you to see at a glance what is happening.

PDA Wallet
With the amount of credit cards available these days it is time to have your wallet updated. This wallet features a screen inside which actually makes it in to a digital wallet. The screen allows you to control your finances with in the wallet and to see exactly what comes in and goes out each day. Again, another great idea which links up to the watch to show your current balance.

Tablet
Of course we all need a tablet PC while we are on the go taking notes in meetings etc… The HP tablet just like the laptop is razor thin and very light weight. As can be seen the design work is very modern and just right for what we might see in 2012. I do have to wonder though if all these devices need to be used in 5 years time or if a collection of them all converging together will be made making most obsolete.

Shelf
The Shelf has to be one of my favorites. It is not an ordinary shelf, but a shelf in that when a device is placed on it, the device will charge automatically with out connecting wires. This is of course very useful for now, but I wonder what kind of battery charging we will need if fuel cells become more popular which can keep a laptop going for 10+ hours and be instantly charged by topping them up.

Smart Pen
The smart pen is capable of writing on any surface and then storing what was just written in to its memory so you can download it later.

Overall I am impressed with the ideas put forward by HP although most, if not all is not new technology but rather a nice mixture of what we have now, shrunk down a little and made to look good. The idea of having all the devices together is good, but at the same time we are seeing a lot of devices being built together such as the Phone/MP3 and pocket computer in 1 device.
